Cambodia

Cambodia holds a special place in my family’s heart — it was their home for 15 years. After hearing so many stories of what it was like to grow up there, it was natural for me to visit Cambodia to discover my roots while volunteering as an English teacher. I stayed in a small village by Tonal Dek river, 40km outside of Siem Reap, and taught three classes a day. The children were some of the brightest and mischievous bunches I had ever taught, and I would never trade their silliness or our memories of playing together for anything else.
