For the longest time, I had only ever been able to appreciate Vietnamese culture through the lens of a foreigner — Chinatown phõs and two-dollar banh mis. It wasn’t until my trip to Vietnam that I got to truly get in touch with my family’s heritage, visit the house my parents grew up in, and see the faces and places from my grandparents’ stories. I will be back, Vietnam!
